First impressions matter. Whether you’re meeting someone in a boardroom or at a networking event, how you introduce yourself can set the tone for the entire interaction.
Here’s a simple yet powerful system I teach in my leadership programs: “Name, Same, and Fame.”
It works like this:
1. Name: Start with your full name. Example: “Hi, I’m Duncan Fish.”
2. Same: Follow with a relatable job title. Example: “I’m an Executive Coach.”
3. Fame: End with what makes you unique. Example: “…and I’m known for helping to bring out the people person within.”
Why it works:
– It gives people something memorable about you.
– It sparks curiosity and invites conversation.
– It sets you apart from the usual, “Hi, I’m Dave, and I’m an Accountant.”
One client told me, “I used to dread networking, but this framework made it easy and even fun!”
Pro Tip: Practice your “Name, Same, and Fame” introduction before your next event. It’s a game changer for building connections.
