As Australia goes back into lockdown, business leaders must continue to keep their virtual teams productive, but doing so is much easier said than done.

One of the first hurdles your virtual team must overcome (and likely has already been struggling with over most of 2020)? Communication.

According to a Forbes article by CEO of LEADx Kevin Kruse, the top reason virtual teams fail is ineffective communication. So what are some of the proven ways he recommends avoiding this ineffective communication?

  • Never assume someone else knows what you know; always explain things thoroughly and simply
  • When in doubt, OVER communicate
  • Communicate in a variety of ways — email, DM, phone, video
  • Be assertive (and definitely not fluffy) in your email correspondence

These methods fall right in line with some of the things I cover with our clients in the Engaging Executive Programme, as they learn how to communicate in the most effective ways possible and learn how to tune in to their assertive, authoritative sides.
